The value given to the centrality of the patient is expressed in the sensorial study of the interiors aimed at communicating the maximum welcome
The restoration of the Umberto Parini di Aosta Regional Presidio aims to reunify assistance for acute care in a single site. The choice to adapt the existing hospital is the result of an intense debate, both at the city and regional level, which for years has evaluated the convenience of decentralization and having services outside the city and the strengthening of the historic hospital in the urban center. In the new healthcare mono-block (5 floors above ground and 2 underground) there will be 24-hour hospitalization departments, operating suites with intensive care and a new emergency/trauma department. The complex being expanded is connected to the existing Presidio via a system of underground and raised paths orthogonal to Viale Ginevra; the “Hospital Street” runs parallel to the avenue, which constitutes the main distribution axis for the public. The reorganization of the campus envisions that the existing hospital will mainly host the daytime diagnosis and treatment functions (H12), in addition to the Psychiatry and Maternal and Child Psychiatry departments. The project pursues a management model based on the intensity of care which determines two large hospital centers (24 hours a day and 12 hours a day), where the services linked to high and low intensity are housed separately.
The 24-hour center, with a high intensity of care, is involved in all hospital activities of a continuous nature: here are also the areas where emergency and trauma cases are dealt with. Hub 12-hour consists of services relating to scheduled hospitalizations and Day Hospitals: patients pass through here only during daytime hours, thus allowing the management and energy aspects of the complex to be streamlined, with significant economic benefits.
Finally, the third center is dedicated to the maternal-infant universe with separate accesses and dedicated parking; by providing for the spatial separation of the mother-child center it was possible to provide the staff with suitable places for coordinating care and offer hospitalized patients environments intended for recreation, entertainment, and privacy during their stay in hospital.
The value given to the centrality of the patient is expressed in the sensorial study of the interiors aimed at communicating the maximum welcome starting from the definition of the entrance, the ‘hospital street’ and the grand hall with the aim of optimizing environmental comfort, flows, efficiency and quality of care.
