S.Maria Novella Station Car Park, Florence
1989 - 1992

The realization of a car park under the Station Square was a strategic opportunity for the reorganization of the public transport network and for the redefinition of  the square identity.  The square is characterized by the 14th century church of Santa Maria Novella and by the rail station, considered one of the greatest piece of Florentine modernist architecture by Giovanni Michelucci.
The project involved extensive underground development that created new pedestrian passageways and a new shopping arcade. The work was carried out under budget and time constraints that an innovative prefabrication system helped to control successfully.
The new car park with 904 car spaces greatly improved Florentine mobility.
Size: 23,110 sqm
904 parking spaces
